And Goddess Vehera wanted to eat that beehive somehow. But there were no elected representatives of the people. The Negombo Municipal Council was established on 01.01.1922 on the recommendations of the Soulbury Commission. Sri Lanka&#8217;s first trial before universal suffrage. &#8220;<strong>Mr. Vasala Mudali Alexander Edman Rajapaksa<\/strong>&#8221; is the first Chairman of Negombo Municipal Council. There were 8 city presidents from him till 1949. In 1949 AD, the Negombo Municipal Council became a Municipal Council.
